Overview

The tour will take place in two locations. It will start in Burgundy with three days of informative lectures combined with visits to local historic attractions, vineyards and cultural sites and will continue in Paris with tours of famous jewellery companies, museum nd institutions to evoke the spirit of the Age.

Burgundy
Our classes will cover the following topics:
– Cartier: Between Belle Époque and Art Deco
– Cartier and the Art Deco style: 1920-1940
– Boucheron: A Place in the Sun
– Chaumet: Great Style bridging two centuries

Local activities include a visit to the world famous Benedictine Abbey of Cluny, once once the largest building in Christendom, dating from 910; a tour, wine tasting and lunch at Pouilly-Fuissé, the most distinguished appellation in the Mâconais, and a walk through the glorious Burgundian countryside, close to David’s home, where we will be guided to discover wild herbs and plants used for hundreds of years in traditional medicine.

Our guests will stay at the magnificent 13th century Château d’Igé, located close to Mâcon and Cluny. The Château boasts a world class restaurant under celebrated Michelin star chef Georges Blanc as well as an impressive wine cellar.

Paris
We will explore celebrated jewellery houses such as Cartier, Chaumet, Boucheron and Mellerio.

We will visit museums and institutions such as the Galerie des Bijoux, within the Museé des Arts Décoratifs, and the recently launched Gabrielle Chanel Rooms at Le Palais Galliera.

Our guests will stay in one of Paris’ most exclusive five star hotels, located in the heart of the city and close to its world renowned boulevards and attractions.

Accommodation, meals, refreshments, entry to all attractions in Burgundy and Paris, travel from Burgundy to Paris and local transport in Burgundy and Paris will be included in the total cost.

The tour will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests.
