Sold - Fannière Frères' inspirational history lesson

As one of the finest examples we have seen of ‘historicism’ in jewellery, this bracelet is perfect.

Understanding Jewellery was delighted to have assisted with the sale of this remarkable jewel.

The bracelet combines several motifs taken from the past – from the head of Medusa carved in agate after Bernini to the piqué enamel borders in 17th century style, from the pierced and chased plaques with Tudor roses to the stylised Maltese cross motifs.

The whole execution is extraordinarily fine and the overall condition exceptional.

We would also draw attention to the delicate engraving of the reverse of the mount – see the image below.

An exceptional antique jewel which could be a perfect centre-piece of a collection of period jewels.
